
Whittier, California — A new destination for nutritious food and Brazilian-inspired delights has emerged in Uptown Whittier. With the greatest attendance of any of its 33 sites statewide, Açaí Republic, a franchise that specializes in açaí bowls, smoothies, juices, and savory pastries, celebrated its grand opening on July 12 with record-breaking numbers.
Açaí Republic was established in Tustin, California, in 2012, and has since expanded throughout the state, offering new areas “the best açaí, shipped directly from Brazil.” At the Whittier store on Greenleaf Ave. The bowls have a nice dark purple color with granola and fresh fruit on top.
Locals have embraced the combination of authentic Brazilian tastes and health-focused cuisine, and business has been consistent since launching. The store serves a variety of Brazilian “salgados,” or pastries, in addition to its famous bowls. These include cheesy bread, beef and spinach empanadas, ham and cheese empanadas, and coxinha, a well-known bread made with shredded chicken and potatoes.
In addition to providing client service, the Whittier facility has already started fostering neighborhood relationships. The store has further cemented its position in Uptown’s burgeoning culinary scene by collaborating on fundraising events with nearby schools including La Serna High School and Whittier High School.
The opening has been enjoyable in addition to being successful. “I love working here, it’s awesome.”Pagulayan and Davis said “It’s incredibly soothing and enjoyable.”
With a great start and an emphasis on quality and community, Açaí Republic’s Uptown Whittier branch is already establishing itself as more than just another franchise, due to how busy it has been in comparison to other Acai Republic locations. “I can’t wait to start coming more after school for a healthy sweet treat”, said Madison Becerra.
