A popular French and South Korean-style bakery has now debuted in La Habra. The bakery, known as TOUS les JOURS, is of both Korean and French origin. The name “Tous les Jours” translates to “every day” in French, but the bakery was founded in South Korea, where its baked goods, including pastries, cakes, and breads, are traditional French pastries with Korean flavors and ingredients. CJ Foodville, a subsidiary of the South Korean conglomerate CJ Group, owns the franchise.
While it operates as a franchise, with individual owners like Melanie Carey in Frederick, Maryland, or Charmi Shah in California, the overarching brand and company are part of the larger CJ conglomerate.
The baked goods chosen for tasting were the tiramisu matcha latte, peach cream piece (a slice of cake), and milk bread pastry. The tiramisu matcha was a nice blend of sweet cream and pure matcha; the sweetness was not overpowering, and the matcha itself was neither bitter or too sweet compared to other matchas from coffee shops—a delicious drink to pair with pastries and sweet or savory baked goods, or just by itself.
The baked bread pastry was a nice, sweet bread that was extremely soft and airy. If you have less of a sweet tooth than others, this bread would be a perfect dessert to try. The bread is similar to soft cream bread and also features a nice, crispy top.
Lastly, the peach cake slice was a vanilla-based cake slice with peach jam and shavings of white chocolate and strawberry chocolate. As someone who isn’t much of a sweets person, this cake was surprisingly not too sugary and very fresh. The cake has an element of freshness from the sweet peaches that blends perfectly with the soft cream and bread.
The location itself is aesthetically pleasing, featuring soft pastel colors, lush greenery, and a warm, yellow-toned lighting effect. The staff was welcoming, and the presentation of each pastry was carefully curated. Coming from someone who works at a bakery as well, this bakery was a pleasant surprise and will now be a new favorite.
TOUS les JOURS also features a wide selection of pastries, cakes, breads, and sandwiches. There is a large variety of choices, and it also offers savory pastries similar to those found at Paris Baguette, another French and Korean-style bakery. This location boasts a great environment, offering a nice spot to study, catch up with friends, or spend some time alone.
