On March 26, 2026 Netflix increased their prices. The standard plan went from $17.99 to $19.99.  The increase was made after a month of Netflix losing their deal with Warner Brothers by Paramount. The price for Paramount Plus also increased with their premium going from $13 to $14 a month. As streaming becomes the stranded for watching entertainment, many people depend on using it more than cable and movies. According to a survey made by the Associated Press asking people who been to a theater. Only 16% of the people that took the survey want a movie theater at least once in a month.

 Netflix before the 2020’s was one of the most popular streaming services.  Where it offered many movies and shows, it was considered easy where people would just search the title up and it would appear. But as many more companies started to release their own streaming services such as Disney Plus, HBO Max and Paramount Plus. The shows and movies started to move to different streaming services which makes it harder for people to find. The increase of original shows made exclusive for the streaming services has also increased to get people to prefer their streaming services. 

So for people who are interested in a show who have to buy the package just to watch it. Many people seem to be frustrated with having to pay for many streaming services per month.  Some people, if they are paying more than three streaming services, are usually spending $40 to $55 per month. Where AMC is offering stubs Premiere where you can go see any movie four times per week for only $18 per month. People are now starting to wonder if streaming is really worth it more than cable and theaters. 

As prices increase for gas and food. Many people fear that streaming prices will go up. People are now starting to look at cable as an alternate use. Some people are using firestick which is $17 as a way to watch new movies. As more shows get moved around to different streaming platforms it makes it hard for people to just choose one.  Streaming was once thought to be the future of watching entertainment but once everything moved to streaming and the prices went up. Many people look at streaming as just a way to waste money, with many people trying to find an alternate way to watch what they love in a cheaper way.  The future of watching movies and television will still be alive and find a way.
