Rio Hondo College continues to offer a wide range of student activities, but few generate as much excitement as the Rio Hondo Olympics. On Monday April 27th the event brought student clubs together for a full day of games, teamwork, and friendly competition.

Held on the main campus grounds, the Olympics transforms a typical school day into a lively agathering. Clubs arrive cheering on teammates as they compete in activities like darts and basketball. Each event is designed to encourage collaboration while keeping a fun, energetic atmosphere.

The event was organized by student activities and civic engagement member Cynthia Morales, who wanted to create a space for students to connect outside their usual routines. “I wanted to start something that would bring people together,” Morales said.

On the day of the event, the campus is filled with energy as laughter and cheers echo between buildings. Teams take on challenges that test not only physical ability but also communication. Faculty members also join in, volunteering to run events or supporting students as spectators.

While winners are recognized at the end of the day, the event is about more than competition. It’s about bringing clubs together for a fun day of friendly competition.

With its mix of spirited games and community engagement, the Rio Hondo Olympics has become a meaningful tradition that continues to bring students together year after year.
